I humbly welcome you to the Department of Civil Engineering, which is one of the oldest Departments in the MGM University (previously Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College) campus. The Department was established in the year 1983, with a vision to create responsible, multi-dimensional and quality engineers to serve the causes of the society.
The Department has grown since its establishment from a few specific sub-disciplines to its currently diverse manifestation. As on date the departments has faculty members with specializations in Structural Engineering, Hydraulics and Water resources, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Town and country planning and the inter-disciplinary Geoinformatics Engineering.
The department aims to create quality and industry ready engineers to the society imbued with human values, who are able to address the needs of the industry and society, in addition to rational and scientific approach for lifelong learning. To this end, the faculty in the Department implement a strategy of problem based learning and project based learning especially focussed towards innovation, industry and research.
The Department has forged various memoranda of understandings with industry in order to facilitate the exposure to its students, and update the knowledge with respect to the current engineering practices. The students are also given ample freedom to engage in co-curricular and extra curricular activities. Furthermore, the Department also allows the faculty members to engage in consultancy and research projects.
I invite you to join the Civil Engineering Department and explore the wide and diverse world of as Engineering discipline totally dedicated to serving the causes of the society and environment, with qualities of lifelong learning.
