It is indeed my pleasure and pride to head the department of Information Technology (IT). B.Tech. IT has become exceptionally well performing program from last few decades. The department offers four years B-Tech IT degree program with an intake of 60 students per year. The department has well qualified, highly experienced and motivated faculty members, who seek to combine excellence in education and research by producing budding technocrats with technical knowledge and value-based education. The department has highly motivated faculty who upgrades their skills according to the industry needs which helps them to prepare students industry ready. There is a high demand by the top IT companies for IT students to get recruited.
The Department has produced hundreds of professionals and has established a name for itself in the country and abroad. Our students excel in Higher Education, Government Jobs, Research and Development and Entrepreneurship. The scope of IT in practice is immense in various fields like: Data Mining, Data Science, Data Analytics, Testing, Smart Computing, Multimedia, Geographic Information System, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Networking, Cloud Computing, Mobile Applications etc.
Our department gives emphasis on teamwork approach, innovative teaching-learning methods and building leadership qualities into students. It also helps students to enhance their employability skills in collaboration with industry.

The B.Tech. in Information Technology program is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and offers Choice Based Credit System education. The aim of this program is to prepare a professionally competent student with technological leadership skills ready to work in a multidisciplinary work environment across the globe.
The Information Technology Department offers stimulating learning opportunities to students through strong research publications, working on real time projects and participation in other industry initiatives. Many consultancy projects are currently underway as a part of industry-academia collaboration initiatives.
Students are groomed through Outcome Based Education to face various challenges in the industry. The curriculum includes various courses on domains like Data Science, Computer Vision, IT Communication, Network/Information Security etc. along with open elective courses; taught by experienced faculty.
The program has consistently excellent placements and has spurred many graduates for pursuing post-graduate studies at leading Universities worldwide. Many IT graduates are currently working in MNCs at top positions in India and abroad.

Undergraduate Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Information Technology is aligned with All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and is globally benchmarked. The total credits students’ needs to complete B.Tech IT degree are 163 and are usually completed in 4 academic years. One academic year is divided in two semesters and assessment is carried out at the end of every semester. The Quality is assessed by grading system.

Our Head of the department, Dr S.C. Tamane was invited to present a webinar, on 03-06-2020, in the free online FDP on "emerging Technologies in Engineering" on DWDM in E-Governance Applications organized by Malla Reddy College of Engineering (MRCE), Hyderabad, during 1st June to 6th June 2020.
A Three Days Workshop on “Blockchain Fundamentals” was organised from 2nd July to 4th July 2019. The speakers of the session were Mr. Gaurav Somwanshi, (Future Leader, British Council) and Mr. Ganesh Anantwar, (Associate, J. P. Morgan) and participants were faculty and students from the various engineering colleges affiliated to Dr. B.A.T.U., Lonere.
Contents: Introduction & History of Blockchain: Hype vs Reality, Nuts & Bolts of a Blockchain: How does Bitcoin work, Major Blockchain Platforms, Identification of Blockchain Use Cases, Real world examples of Blockchain, Consensus Algorithms & Blockchain Security, Blockchain Network Architecture Models, Understanding Multichain: Basic Concepts, What are Smart Contracts, The rise of Etherium.
An Induction program was conducted in the department for newly admitted first year students. In this program various activities were conducted for students like students aspirations and family expectation through which students can get an idea about how to handle aspirations and family expectations, peer pressure as per AICTE guidelines to make them aware of handling peer pressure and various sessions like Gratitude, Self and Body, Prosperity, KBC Game etc.
ISRO is nations pride and taking students there is a true motivation for us. Department of IT organized a study tour to ISRO NRSC-National Remote Sensing Center, Hyderabad on 23rd sept 2019 for Third year students with dept. coordinators Ms. Vijaya Ahire Mr. Amol Mahadik, and Mr Yogesh Tayade. The objective of this visit was to explore research opportunities in the field of Remote sensing and GIS. Dr. Padmarani, Head, NRSC given presentation which was not only focused on various projects of ISRO but on: how ISRO founded?, contribution of legends like great scientists Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Dr. A P J Abdul kalam and the challenges ISRO faced. Students got knowledge of ISRO centers in INDIA and responsibilities they are carrying and contribution of ISRO in space mission.
Red Hat Academy (RHA) of JNEC received Gold Medal in the RHA CHALLENGE 2019 event held at DIETMS, Aurangabad. Raunak Borkar & Mr. Devendra Kulkarni of Red Hat Academy participated in ‘1st Open Source Conference, 2019’ and have won 1st Prize in the coding competition. Both of them won Amazon Kindle Paperwhite as a prize
Every year a one-week workshop on C/C++ language is conducted by the department faculty members for second year students to make concepts simpler
Department has maintained a well bond with its Alumni by inviting them for interactions with their juniors and to guide them about technical requirements of industry
To upgrade appetite knowledge and technical skills of student’s MATPO, InfyTQ and FNAT aptitude tests etc, are conducted in the department
To support overall development of students, a wall magazine activity “IT INFORIA” is carried out in the department regularly
For hands on practice on various subjects of engineering virtual lab sessions, online exams and certification programs are regularly conducted in the department
As a part of grooming extra-curricular skills of students, events like “FM Radio Kay Tashan Baaz” are organized regularly
To give the insight of the research work, local visits are regularly conducted to IT industries, research lab of Computer science and IT Dept. of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar University, IT Park Aurangabad, National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology Aurangabad etc.
