GIZ-MSME Innovation Projects

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, a German organization has been working jointly with MGM University’s Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College for sustainable economic and social development of the region and with its “MSME Innovation Project” their prime focus is on endorsing Industry-Academia Collaboration and promoting innovations in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). The partnership between JNEC & GIZ dates back to 2016 when GIZ first came to Aurangabad and since then this fruitful partnership has seen many milestones for Innovation promotion in MSME’s. This initiative mainly focuses involving student project teams in live industrial projects. JNEC till date has successfully collaborated on more than 40+ live industrial consultancy projects.

All the respective Industries & MASSIA, the local MSME association has also appreciated the efforts taken by the JNEC teams through last 5 years. Looking at the success of this initiative TATA Technologies and GIZ jointly funded these Innovation Projects.

Activities under Industry Institute Interaction Cell

1. Internship:

Internship paves the ways for students to understand practices followed by the industries to comprehend the application of theory concepts. Mandatory internships of 15 to 30 days during semester break boosts understanding of students in terms of skills requirement. III cell facilitates the internship to all students through department coordinators.

2. Industrial projects:

Industrial project work helps students to think out of the box to explore creative levels of imagination. Starting from selecting a topic, industrial project work involves finding creative solutions to various project related problems and many technical challenges. Through GIZ-MASSIA Innovation program, many JNEC students are working on industrial projects in Aurangabad industrial areas since year 2016-17.

3. Industrial visits:

Experience of industrial visits augments understanding of students and it is an excellent opportunity for students to observe how the theoretical aspects learned in classes are integrated into the practical world. Through industrial visits students are exposed to industrial setting, which otherwise difficult to simulate in college or classroom setting.

4. Expert talk:

With objective of providing students with latest insights of advanced & emerging technologies, renowned experts visit the college and deliver expert talks to our students. Classroom teaching focuses on theory and practical sessions, invited expert guest from industry enlighten students with current trends in the industry and research domain.

5. Faculty exchange:

The objective of faculty exchange program is to match faculty members from associating institutions who will coordinate in the design and delivering of a course. Each faculty member will be expected to join the associating institution for a predefined duration in which faculty will conduct the course for students, work with other faculty members in order to discuss future potential projects and also understand best practices followed by associating institution.

6. Student exchange:

The objective of student exchange program is to provide students with opportunity to experience international education and provide exposure to learn engineering from global perspectives. In student exchange program, student is expected to visit associating institution for duration of one semester for learning new courses.

7. Corporate competitions:

Many companies and government departments organize competitions to provide students with platform to develop and exhibit their skills to show their readiness for inducting into corporate culture. III cell making an effort through student coordinators to aware students with these platforms and ensuring good participation and performance in these competitions.
